Spirit Airlines to Begin Service Between Oakland International Airport and Las Vegas
Cleveland, Ohio - June 22, 2011 - Spirit Airlines announced today that they will launch service between Oakland International Airport (OAK) and Las Vegas McCarran International Airport (LAS). Spirit, the ultra low-cost carrier, will begin serving OAK with two daily nonstop flights on Aug. 18, 2011, and service will increase to three daily nonstop flights on Sept. 7, 2011.
The announcement was made at the opening of Airport Council International-North America's annual JumpStart Air Service Development Conference held in Cleveland, Ohio.

Las Vegas is a favorite destination for Bay Area travelers and Oakland is actively progressing efforts for new service," said Deborah Ale Flint, Director of Aviation for the Port of Oakland which owns and operates OAK. "Beginning in August, and with phenomenally low fares, the Spirit service also affords Las Vegans the opportunity to enjoy the cool summer lifestyle here in the Bay Area. Spirit, headquartered in Miramar, Florida, will operate Airbus A319 aircraft with 10 "Big Front Seats" and 135 main cabin seats, a total of 145 seats per flight. Flights will operate from OAK's Terminal 1.
Las Vegas is one of OAK's largest air service destinations, and with Spirit's new service OAK now offers 12 daily nonstop flights to this market.
