The Port of Oakland has issued a Request for Bids - Non-Exclusive Rental Car Concession for San Francisco Bay Oakland International Airport (OAK). Bid documents are available at the Port's website: https://www.portofoakland.com/business/bid_announcement.asp.

A mandatory pre-bid meeting will be held on Tuesday, March 13, 2007, at 2:00 p.m., at San Francisco Bay Oakland International Airport, #1 Airport Drive, Oakland, CA, Terminal 1, 2nd Floor, Rear Conference Room. The bid submittal deadline is 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, April 18, 2007.

All on-airport rental car concessions operations are conducted at the Rental Car Center, located on OAK's North Field at Langley Drive and Doolittle Avenue. The Rental Car Center consists of a common customer service building within which the concessionaires maintain exclusive use customer counters and support offices. The customer service building is surrounded by exclusive use areas leased to each concessionaire for ready/return vehicle parking and customer service "booths."

OAK, owned and operated by the Port of Oakland, has served the travel needs of San Francisco Bay Area residents and visitors for 80 years. OAK's $300 million Terminal Improvement Program, which adds convenience, security and customer service to the travel experience by using "green building" technology, includes the recently opened seven-gate concourse, baggage claim, passenger screening area and in-line explosives detection baggage screening system. By summer, expanded ticketing, a food court and shopping area will open. The terminal roadway and curbsides project will improve access and ease traffic congestion. Program completion, expected in 2008, will accommodate the needs of OAK's over 14 million annual passengers. OAK has over 200 flights a day on 12 domestic and international carriers to 40 nonstop destinations, including Atlanta, Boston, Fort Lauderdale, the Hawaiian Islands, New York, Philadelphia, Washington, D.C., and Mexico and seasonal service to the Azores (Portugal), Sun Valley, Idaho and Vancouver.
