OAK Enhances Business Traveler Experience
-- More Free Express Passenger Security Lanes; Free Wi-Fi; Value-Priced Parking --
Oakland, Calif. -- Oakland International Airport (OAK) and its airlines now offer enhanced facilities and services for premium and business travelers. OAK is well-positioned to attract these customers with new, free premium lanes; free Wi-Fi in Terminals 1 and 2; and close-in, value-priced parking.
In Terminal 2,, Southwest Airlines offers its branded "Fly By" priority security lane to its Business Select customers and Rapid Reward A-List members. The free Fly By lane allows travelers to reach the screening process more quickly by having access to a separate security lane. To enter the Fly By lane, Southwest customers must show the following credentials to the TSA representative: Business Select - boarding pass and Rapid Rewards A-List - A-List identification card.
Premium customers traveling on airlines located in Terminal 1 also have their own free priority security lane. The separate lane, which expedites seasoned travelers through screening, is offered to first class and premier-level frequent flyer members traveling on the following airlines: Alaska, Delta, Hawaiian, Mexicana, United and US Airways. The premium customer lane in Terminal 1 is clearly marked with signs.
Free Wi-Fi is now available in both terminals. OAK travelers enjoy the convenience of keeping in touch before flights. FreeFi Networks is providing a solution by offering advertiser-supported Public Internet Wi-Fi access at OAK, free to all users.
Southwest Airlines has installed work desks and easy chairs, equipped with power outlets, in OAK's boarding areas. Passengers now have comfortable and efficient seating where they can check e-mail, charge laptops and PDAs, and grab a quick bite to eat before boarding Southwest flights.
OAK recently relocated its Economy Lot to a convenient location within walking distance of the terminals. The Economy Lot is the best value for extended-stay parking, and is still at the same low $15 daily rate.
"Oakland International Airport and its airlines continue to vigorously compete for high-yield business travelers who are critical to the overall profitability of a flight," said Steve Grossman, director of aviation for the Port of Oakland, which owns and operates the airport. "Business travelers now have more reasons to choose Oakland over other Bay Area airports, with access to free premium passenger security lanes, free Wi-Fi, and value-priced parking now located closer to the terminals."
OAK offers more daily flights between the San Francisco Bay Area and the Los Angeles area than any other Bay Area airport. Additionally, OAK is the closest airport to nearly 50 percent of the people who live and work in the metropolitan San Francisco area.
