Oakland, CA, August 19, 1999 - Aloha Airlines today announced it will begin nonstop service between the San Francisco Bay Area and the Hawaiian Islands, from Oakland International Airport in February 2000.
This announcement marks Aloha’s first venture into the Mainland-Hawaii market, since the carrier began service in 1946.
Aloha plans to provide daily nonstop service between Oakland and Honolulu and Oakland and Maui. Both flights will depart from Oakland in the morning and flights will return to Oakland with an afternoon arrival. Aloha will use state-of-the-art Boeing 737-700 equipment, configured for two classes of service: 12 seats in First Class and 112 seats in Coach Class.
"We are delighted to have Aloha Airlines, Hawaii’s most experienced carrier, join the growing Oakland International Airport family," said Steve Grossman, director of Aviation. "Nonstop Hawaii service from Oakland International Airport is consistently identified by our surveys as a destination our customers want. We think the morning departures will appeal to travelers who are looking for good service and fares, who want a convenient and hassle-free airport experience and who expect a flight departure that’s on-time and not affected by chronic weather delays." from Oakland International Airport
Aloha will begin accepting reservations for the new Oakland to Hawaii flights this fall. For more information or to make reservations, contact Aloha Airlines at 1-800-367-5250 or at www.alohaairlines.com, or contact your professional travel agent.
