OAKLAND, Calif. —Allegiant (NASDAQ: ALGT) today inaugurates low-cost, nonstop flights between Oakland International Airport (OAK) and Phoenix via Phoenix-Mesa Gateway Airport (IWA). “We are pleased to extend the Allegiant brand of low-cost travel services to the residents of Oakland and the San Francisco Bay” Andrew C. Levy, Allegiant Travel Company President, said. “We are confident the community will appreciate our affordable and convenient air service, as well as the value of booking hotel rooms and car rentals through us."

“OAK is thrilled to be the airport of choice for this first ever link between a Bay Area airport and Phoenix-Mesa Gateway Airport. Gateway’s motto is to make travel ‘just plane easy’ and it could just as accurately be applied to OAK. The flight also, for the first time, allows Bay Area residents to use the myriad of travel products made available by Allegiant Travel Company. This is truly an exciting development for Bay Area travelers who want to visit the Phoenix area just in time for spring training or to spend time at an Arizona resort this winter.” said Deborah Ale Flint, Aviation Director for the Port of Oakland which owns and operates OAK.

Flint added, “In addition, the flight adds more visitors destined for the Bay Area to an existing portfolio of inbound OAK flights from Bellingham and Eugene, thus adding significant benefit to the local tourism economy.

”As part of the day’s celebration, Allegiant will give one spontaneous traveler a vacation for two, departing on the inaugural flight to Phoenix-Mesa. Adventurous travelers will register at the airport between 11:00 a.m. and 12:00 p.m. The winner will receive two roundtrip tickets for the inaugural flight leaving that day at 2:10 p.m., with the return flight to Oakland on Sat, Jan 21, plus hotel accommodations at the Lagado Hotel and a sunrise hot air balloon ride and breakfast by Hot Air Expeditions.

The new flights will operate six times weekly between Oakland International Airport and Phoenix-Mesa Gateway Airport. For flight days and times please visit allegiant.com.
