Turner Construction

Turner Construction was selected by the Port of Oakland Board of Port Commissioners as the prime builder for the Terminal 2 Improvement project in May 2003. Turner was also selected as the prime builder to coordinate the construction of the Terminal Roadway and Curbside Improvement project in August 2005.

Turner’s primary responsibility is to ensure the Terminal Improvement Program remains efficient, cost-effective and time-sensitive, and minimizes disruption to the Port’s aviation operations and passengers by:

  • conducting pre-construction activities;
  • packaging and procuring subconsultants and trade subcontractors; and
  • managing construction activities.

As prime builder, Turner Construction is required to at least meet, and/or exceed, the Port’s expectation and requirement of 30% local business participation. Turner has committed to achieving 45% local business participation, of which 15% will be small local business. However, Turner has greatly exceeded these goals and has realized more than 60% local business participation.
