Terminal Improvement Program

OAK's $300 million Terminal Improvement Program is the Port of Oakland's largest aviation project in its history to date. The program is part of the airport's on-going Airport Development Program and is designed to accommodate increased passenger demand and to expand the airport's reputation for convenience and on-time reliability. The program is managed and implemented by the Terminal Expansion management team.

The Terminal Improvement Program was begun in April 2004 and completion is expected in 2008. It is comprised of the Terminal 2 Improvement project using "green building" technology and the Terminal Roadway and Curbside project.

Turner Construction is the prime builder for both the Terminal 2 Improvement and Terminal Roadway and Curbside projects.

Upon completion of the Terminal Improvement Program, OAK’s future plans calls for additional gates and other associated customer service improvements.

Additionally, pending funding, the Bay Area Rapid Transit authority (BART) plans to build an automated guideway transit system between OAK and the Coliseum/Oakland Airport BART station.
