The Port of Oakland is investing toward building the future of transportation. Oakland International Airport (OAK) is being improved to accommodate increased passenger demand and to expand upon the airport's reputation for convenience and on-time reliability.

OAK's $500 million terminal improvement project includes a five-gate extension of Terminal 2 with a new concourse, concessions and waiting areas; expanded ticketing, security and baggage claim facilities; new utilities; and a 6,000-space parking garage.

Upon completion of the terminal improvement project, OAK's future plans call for additional gates and other associated customer service improvements.

Additionally, the Bay Area Rapid Transit Authority (BART) is planning to build a light-rail system to connect the airport to the Hegenberger/Coliseum BART station.
