Fleet Week 2009
October 7, 2009
***COMMUNITY ADVISORY***
San Francisco Fleet Week, which includes air show practices and demonstrations, is scheduled from Thursday, October 8 through Sunday, October 11, 2009. Air show performances will include the Navy Blue Angels, other military single-aircraft performers, a civilian jet performance team and several light-aircraft performers.
Aircraft are scheduled to operate from Bay Area airports as follows: all military aircraft from San Francisco International; the civilian jets from Byron Airport, located in Eastern Contra Costa County; and some light-aircraft may operate from Oakland International.
Blue Angels familiarization flights are scheduled on October 8 from 12 noon to 5:00 p.m. Air show practice sessions are scheduled on October 9 from 1:00 to 4:00 p.m. The official air show is scheduled on October 10 and 11, from 12:30 to 4:00 p.m. each day.
During practice sessions and the official air show demonstrations, airport neighbors may experience an unusual level of aircraft activity overhead Alameda and other East Bay communities. This is the result of FAA requirements to isolate and protect airspace utilized by air show aircraft for safe separation from normal aircraft flight activity.
Aircraft noise concerns may be directed to the Fleet Week Information/Noise Line at 650-599-5057 and/or Oakland International Airport?s Noise Management Hotline at 510-563-6463.
