Continental Airlines Inaugurates Nonstop Houston Service From Oakland International Airport
Continental Airlines OAKLAND, California, June 14, 2000 - Continental Airlines today launched twice-daily nonstop service to Houston from its newest San Francisco Bay Area gateway at Oakland International Airport.

Oakland City Council President Ignacio de la Fuente, Oakland Board of Port Commissioners President John Loh, Aviation Director Steve Grossman, and Continental Airlines Senior Director of Sales for the Western Region Marguerite Lennon led today's inaugural ceremonies. Strolling Texas Bluegrass musicians and a water arch courtesy of the airport firefighters of the Oakland Fire Department added to the inaugural festivities.
Continental will use Boeing 737-500 aircraft, configured to two levels of service with 10 seats in First Class and 94 in Economy Class. The flights will operate from Gate 3 in Terminal One.

Additionally, Continental Airlines announced last month that it would serve the New York area with twice-daily service from Oakland International Airport, beginning August 1.
