Lost and Found

Customers who lose personal items at Oakland International Airport (OAK) may check with the appropriate lost and found location depending on where the item was last seen.

  • Airport Lost and Found
  • The Transportation Security Administration (TSA) Lost and Found
  • Airline Lost and Found

Items Lost In Public Areas

For items lost in public areas including Airport terminals, curbside and in on Airport parking lots, please contact the Airport Lost and Found. The Airport Lost and Found holds found items for 90 days.  Found items not claimed within 90 days are surrendered to local law enforcement for disposal.

Instructions For Email Correspondence
Email correspondence with lost and found must include the following information:

  1. Your first and last name in the subject line.
  2. Include the following in the body of the email:
    • Full Name
    • Full Address
    • Contact Phone Number
    • Date of travel (example: Jan 1, 2017)
    • Your Email address
    • Detailed description of your lost item

Please note, sending more than one email may delay our response. 

Items Left At Security Checkpoints

For items left at the Terminal One and Terminal Two Security Checkpoints, please contact the TSA Lost and Found. TSA only holds items for 30 days.

Email is the most efficient and effective avenue for retrieving your left behind item. Correspondence with TSA Lost and Found must include the following information:

  1. Your first and last name in the subject line.
  2. Include the following in the body of the email:
    • Full Name
    • Full Address
    • Contact Phone Number
    • Date of travel (example: Jan 1, 2017)
    • Your Email address
    • Detailed description of your lost item

Items Left On An Aircraft

Personal items left on an aircraft are stored and maintained by the specific air carrier. These items are not submitted to Airport Lost & Found or the TSA Lost & Found. Customers must contact their airline to determine if their item is in the airline’s possession.
